A few have inquired about recent legislation regarding firearms on school property.  Under HB 826, as passed, it still would have been a crime to carry a firearm on school property or at school functions.  There was an attempt in HB 826 to modify the definition of weapons in O.C.G.A. §16-11-127.1, but that change became ineffective when the Governor subsequently signed HB 60 which retains the original definitions in that code section.  Thus, even after July 1, 2014, it remains a crime to bring a weapon, including a gun, onto school property, even if the owner has a permit.
